To Collaborate or Not?

To Collaborate or Not?

Let’s be honest—how many of us try to do everything ourselves? Whether it’s building something new, navigating a challenge, or just making it through the day, there’s this quiet pressure to go it alone. For me, it wasn’t about needing to prove I could handle it—it was more about not wanting to bother anyone with my needs.

That belief ran deep. I thought, “They’re busy, they have their own things going on, why would I add to their plate?” So I didn’t ask. I kept my struggles to myself, even when they were tied to projects I cared deeply about.

But something shifted recently. Without me even reaching out, people began showing up—offering support, encouragement, and help on one of my creative ventures. They believed in what I was doing, and they believed in me. They saw I was spinning my wheels in areas that, for them, were simple, and they wanted to help.

That experience changed everything.

It made me realise how powerful it is to let people in. When you find the right collaborators—people who share your vision and want to see you thrive—it’s like flipping a switch. Things flow more easily. Momentum builds. And suddenly, what felt heavy started to feel exciting again.

Collaboration isn’t about giving up control. It’s about inviting in support and fresh perspectives. It’s about allowing someone else’s strengths to complement your own so that both of you can shine. The truth is, we’re not meant to do everything alone. Creativity thrives in connection. Energy multiplies when shared.

If you’ve been holding back—thinking you need to figure it all out by yourself, or that your needs are too much—maybe it’s time to challenge that belief. The people around you might be more willing (and even excited) to help than you think.

So, to collaborate or not?

I say yes. Not because you need help to succeed, but because working alongside others might just make the journey richer, easier, and a whole lot more fulfilling.

Have you ever had a breakthrough moment thanks to collaboration? I’d love to hear your story in the comments.
